How to get to Roundhill
Roundhill ski area lies in the heart of the Mackenzie basin overlooking Lake Tekapo and a picturesque Aoraki Mt Cook. Accessing this region is easy from a range of directions.
When travelling from Christchurch, head south on State Highway 1, following directions to Geraldine which puts you on SH79 to Fairlie. From there, follow SH8 to Lake Tekapo, just half an hour from Roundhill. You can continue along SH8 towards Queenstown after your visit.
From Timaru, an easy and scenic hour and a half trip gets you to Roundhill via SH8.
We are located approximately:
- 3 hours from Christchurch
- 3 hours from Queenstown
- 1.5 hours from Timaru
- 1 hour from Fairlie
- A half hour from Tekapo
Roundhill is 32km from Tekapo, along the eastern shore of the lake and up our access road to the base area at 1360m. Our gradual, easy access road allows campervans and buses to access Roundhill with ease. For daily access road conditions, phone 03 680 6977.
